We have 'borrowed' a dog from our neighbor! His name is Yoda! He is a perfect as a gateway dog for us, since we both have no idea how to take care of a dog. Yoda is mostly self -sustainable except we need to feed him occasionally.
He is a rescue dog gotten from the Lusaka animal welfare society and was named due to his ears. He is estimated to be between 6 and 8 years old and the original idea was that we could borrow him for our time here and then give him back when we return to the States. This is dependent on many factors, but we're both pretty smitten, and we have the extra dork-oid bonus of having him named after Star Wars characters. Karen and Joel's dog is named Chewie! Who wants to join the club?
Our neighbors have two dogs that we call Rolly and Polly for their general body shape, who Yoda has made friends with. Keith is walking Yoda quite often which is a good distraction for general computer database haze.
