WARNING THIS POST CONTAINS LOTS OF GROSS PICTURES
First an even bigger millipede than last time and as usual, Massachusetts Drivers Lincense Included for Scale:Second: We were on the couch one evening, Kim facing the sliding glass doors, and there's a loud thump as something hits the sliding glass doors. "Oh my god" she says "...a bat!" Seeing something black moving around just outside the doors. No, not a bat, no fuzzy mammals. It's this character (MDLIFS):
What's really amazing to consider is that this thing was actually airborne, I imagine it would need a little runway crew with fireflies for take off taxiing. It was rocking back and forth on the tile trying to right itself, it sounded like a ceramic bowl rolling on the tile. Take a look at the next picture, this things eyes are so big they reflect light back to the camera:
Finally I flipped it over with a piece of cardboard and it sauntered away. I was hoping it might grant me 3 wishes, but it didn't.
This is my first encounter with a rain spider, which was on our bed netting. My head was about an inch away from this as I was talking to Kim in bed, then she said : "There's a cricket on the netting...".
Rain spiders are harmless but big, anyway it was terminated with extreme prejudice, to send a message to the others. Note again the eye is so big it reflects light back at the camera. You will notice also that my driver's license is not included for scale thats because I didn't want to have my hand close enough to jump on. OK that's enough for now.
